Art at the Arnold 2012
It's that time of year to learn, grow and get motivated to keep the creative juices going! Here are the 2 paintings (22x28, acrylics) from the Arnold this year. The blue background one created in 4 hours from a live model. The tan background created in about 8 hours from a photo of the same model. An a pic to give you a perspective of the environment of being with 50 amazingly gifted artists, shoulder to shoulder, putting themselves out there for the sake of art!

Jazzin' For The Next Year
I've made a commitment to create a series of jazz paintings. I intend to create them in acrylic paints on canvas. Hopefully to display them or find interested parties to sell to. This will be an undertaking that I intend to work on for the next years time. I wish to complete at least 12 paintings of similar style and subject matter. To start the process, I've created the following 2 illustrations in Photoshop in an extremely open and washy technique. Little preparation was taken. Namely: I found a photo of the subject and began to paint. No pre-illustration, just washes of color and find the highlights and low lights! It's a very progressive way for me to work! I'm excited to move on to the next step. Meet Billie Holiday and Sun Ra the first two subjects of my jazz musician studies!

June and July/ Heaven and Hell
I've got 2 illustrations quite on opposite ends of the spectrum for this month! The "Angles in the Architecture" painting was created for a CD cover of the same name. It is torn paper and acrylic paints.
One the other end of the spectrum is a Photoshop illustration "Buffoon's Slate" eluding to whatever evil games commence when the carousel closes after the evenings festivities and the dark side take it's turn!

Art at the Arnold 2010
The Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio on March 4 thru 7. This was the first year they welcomed 50 artists to paint live at the event and participate in competition. What an amazing opportunity to "color" with some incredible artists! Here are my two paintings. The seated male figure painted in acrylic in a matter of 4 hours from a model live (22" x 28"). The second figure "Brazil" is a large 30" x 30" 6.5 hour painting. All art was displayed for Arnold Schwarzengger and Sylvester Stallone for a private viewing and awards presentation.
